Gtalk On iphone

Google launched the gtalk iphone application on July 09 which lets you talk to your friends on gtalk from your iphone. You can sign into gtalk right from your safari browser and will automatically be signed out if you leave the window or browse to some other google application.

“Because this version of Talk is designed to run in your browser, you’ll be automatically signed out of Talk when you navigate to a different browser window or iPhone app. So while it’s not a traditional “always-on” instant message client, it’s useful for changing your status message on the go or checking in to see if someone’s online and sending them a quick chat. It’s equally nice for killing time at the airport.”’

Google Apps users: visit http://talkgadget.google.com/a/your-domain.com/talkgadget/m from your iPhone’s browser, but be sure to replace ‘your-domain.com’ with your actual domain name.

Google alerts : Monitor and track your traffic !

Google alert is a wonderful tool that I have now been using for a while with succesful result.I have been doing web seo for over a decade now and usually rely on the simplest and free tools on the net for tremendous amount of search traffic. One of the most fascnating tool without which I cannot do is Google alerts. Not only it helps me optimise my site it also helps me rank better ! Want to know more read on !

Ever wondered why after a certain time interval you stop receiving traffic from search engines or your volume of traffic has dropped tremendously within a certain days ?

Every month thousands of websites are hacked and tremendous amount of back links are generated to spam sites by black hats seo.

It is indeed unfortunate and a bit irritating when I find that the reason of traffic on major sites is due to these backlinks.

Google doesn’t give you a warning when they see lots of links to black hat sites – they just stop sending traffic to the pages that contain them. If the spammer has only added the code to a few of your pages the traffic drop can be quite small and it becomes almost impossible to diagnose the problem.

So here is how google alerts can help.

Google Alerts can create advanced search queries in order to set up an alert to monitor our websites for any terms that might appear .We can’t monitor every term but it is indeed helpful with a lot of spam terms that are most likely.

To start with we need to think of a few likely spam terms that people might like to inject in our site and then use them to make up a search query:
viagra OR cialis OR levitra OR Phentermine OR Xanax site:law9.com

where your site goes in place of law9.com

Now simply go to Google Alerts and enter the query above into the “Create a Google Alert” box and you will get an email whenever Google spots one of your chosen spam words on your site.

In addition to this you can also keep a track of your most favourite topics on the interent with a range of frequecny. For example I like to know everything that is happening in the “Lego” world so I just sign up for the term lego with google alerts and generally get everything in my inbox about lego when updated.

Invisible Mode on Gtalk in google Mail.

One of my wish list for Google Talk is now available in Gmail Chat. Gmail Chat has added the invisible status option. This feature is available in the new version of Gmail, supported in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 or later. This works in Google Apps mail chat also, provided the new version is allowed by the administrator.

To change to invisible status, click on Set Status Here dropdown below your name in Gmail Chat and select invisible form the list. So now you have the option for setting status as visible, invisible or busy. Gmail Chat remembers your status when you login next time in Gmail.

This feature doesn’t work if you have Google Talk desktop client or Google talk gadget running. Google Talk client still does not support invisible status mode yet. It is said that Gmail Chat is the most used interface for Google Talk. Let us hope that Google will soon add these features to the next release of Google Talk client.

If you are in invisible mode, you will not be notified of your friends request to add you to their friends list. I hope this will be fixed in soon.
